Aluminium Bifold Doors in Sturminster Newton
Sturminster Newton is about nine miles from Shaftesbury across the Blackmore Vale, and we fit windows and doors in and around the town all the time. Its mix of stone and brick cottages near the old market place, and newer homes towards Bath Road and the edge of town, means no two jobs are quite the same.
Bifold doors are a popular way to open a kitchen or living room up to the garden here, whether they replace an old patio door or go into a new extension. Kenny surveys every opening himself and our own team does every installation.
Bifold Doors in the Blackmore Vale
Many homes around Sturminster Newton look out over open countryside, and a wide set of bifolds is a great way to make the most of the view. On a cottage, a slimmer two or three-panel door often looks better than a very wide one, and Kenny will help you get the proportions right.
Parts of the town centre are a conservation area, and some older properties are listed. If that applies to your home, Kenny will advise on whether Dorset Council needs to give consent.

Bifold Doors in Sturminster Newton: Your Questions Answered
Which areas around Sturminster Newton do you cover?
We cover Sturminster Newton, Hinton St Mary, Marnhull, Okeford Fitzpaine, Shillingstone, Fiddleford, Stalbridge and Hazelbury Bryan, along with Shaftesbury and the surrounding area.
Do I need planning permission for bifold doors in Sturminster Newton?
Usually not. Replacing a door at the back of a house, or fitting bifolds into a rear extension, normally falls under permitted development. If your home is listed, in a conservation area and the doors face the street, or you are widening the opening, Dorset Council or Building Control may need to be involved, and Kenny will advise when he visits.
How many panels will my bifold door need?
It depends on the width of the opening and how you want to use it. Most homes have panels between 600 and 900mm wide, so a typical 1.8 to 2.4 metre opening suits three panels and a wider one four or five. We usually include a traffic door, so you can use one panel like a normal door without folding the rest.
What guarantee do your doors come with?
Frames and sealed glass units are guaranteed for 10 years, hardware for 2 years and our workmanship for 10 years, all backed by an insurance-backed guarantee through HomePro.
How much do aluminium bifold doors cost?
It depends on the width, the number of panels, the colour, the glass and whether the opening needs altering. Every door is made to measure, so the only way to give an accurate price is to survey your home. The survey and quote are free, and we are rarely beaten on price for a genuine like-for-like quotation.
