New uPVC Back Door Installed in Tisbury

We recently completed the installation of this white uPVC back door in Tisbury, replacing the existing rear entrance with a simple, practical design that allows plenty of natural light into the property.

For this installation, the customer opted for a predominantly glazed door alongside a matching narrow glazed side panel. The combination gives the rear entrance a much more open appearance while still providing a secure and practical everyday access point to the home.

At Goldhill Glazing, we supply and install made-to-measure windows and doors throughout Tisbury and the surrounding areas, with each product specified around the property rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach.

A Simple Design With Plenty of Natural Light

One of the biggest advantages of using a largely glazed back door is the amount of daylight it can bring into the room behind it.

The large glass area in the main door, combined with the full-height side panel, helps maximise the available light without unnecessarily dividing the opening into smaller sections.

The white uPVC frames also keep the overall appearance clean and understated, making this type of design particularly well suited to a rear entrance where practicality, light and ease of maintenance are often the main considerations.

The result is a straightforward design that works well with the existing property rather than overpowering it.

Made to Fit the Existing Opening

The original opening incorporates both the main door and a narrower section alongside it, so the new frame was manufactured to make use of the full available width.

Using a glazed side panel alongside the door allows the entrance to retain its proportions while providing a comfortable door width for everyday use.

As with all of our replacement door installations, accurate surveying is an important part of the process. The new frame needs to fit the existing masonry correctly while leaving suitable tolerances for installation, sealing and finishing.

Once installed, the perimeter of the frame is carefully sealed to provide a neat, weather-resistant finish between the new door and the surrounding structure.

Ventilation Built Into the Door

You can also see the trickle ventilators positioned at the top of both sections of the frame.

Modern replacement windows and doors sometimes require background ventilation depending on the existing property and the circumstances of the replacement. Incorporating the ventilation neatly within the frame allows airflow to be provided without significantly changing the appearance of the door.

It’s one of the smaller details of an installation, but an important consideration when surveying and specifying replacement windows and doors.

Why Choose uPVC for a Back Door?

Although composite and aluminium doors are popular choices for front entrances, uPVC remains an excellent option for many back doors.

It offers a combination of low maintenance, good thermal performance and everyday practicality, while allowing a wide variety of configurations to be manufactured.

For rear doors in particular, large areas of glazing can be incorporated to make the most of views into the garden and increase the amount of daylight entering the property.

White uPVC also requires very little ongoing maintenance compared with traditional painted timber. Regular cleaning of the frames, glass and hardware is generally all that’s required to keep the door looking its best.
