Double Glazing in Gillingham, Dorset

Gillingham is our nearest town, just a few miles from our base in Shaftesbury, and we fit windows here more than almost anywhere else. The town has grown quickly over the past thirty years, and many of the homes built in the 1990s and early 2000s are still on their original double glazing. Misted units, dropped sashes and worn hinges are common, and the frames are far less efficient than a modern window.

Alongside the newer estates, the Victorian and Edwardian houses near the station and the High Street need windows that suit their age. Kenny surveys every job himself and gives honest advice on what is worth replacing, and every window is fitted by our own team.

Just four miles from our base, Gillingham is about as local as it gets for us. The railway-era brick terraces and villas near the centre often have double glazing that is now a generation old, with misted units and frames that have yellowed. The newer developments around the town are younger, though failed seals and draughty doors are not unusual there either. In Milton on Stour and Motcombe, the stone cottages need a more traditional window, and where a property is in a conservation area Kenny will tell you whether Dorset Council consent may be needed.

Is Your 1990s Double Glazing Due for Replacing?

Double glazing from twenty or thirty years ago was a big step up at the time, but it was not built to today’s standards. If your windows have misted between the panes, let in draughts around the edges, are hard to open or no longer lock securely, it is usually time to look at replacing them.

New windows will be warmer, more secure and easier to live with, and Kenny will tell you honestly if yours still have life left in them.

Most Gillingham homes suit our casement windows, and we also replace a lot of bay windows in the town. Recent work includes old box sash windows replaced with casements, a bay window replacement in Gillingham and timber-look flush casements in nearby Motcombe.
