Double Glazing in Bradford on Avon
Bradford on Avon is built almost entirely of Bath stone, with weavers’ cottages and merchants’ houses stepping up the hillside from the river. Old stone homes like these can be cold and draughty, and many still have single glazing or early double glazing that does little to keep the heat in. The right double glazing makes them far more comfortable without spoiling their character.
Goldhill Glazing is a family-run window and door company based in Shaftesbury. We take on fewer projects than the big names so every installation gets the time it needs. Kenny surveys every home himself, and your windows are fitted by our own team from start to finish.
In a town of Bath stone, replacing old double glazing in Bradford on Avon needs a careful hand. Many of the weavers’ cottages and merchants’ houses are listed, and parts of the town sit within a conservation area, so listed building consent or planning permission from Wiltshire Council may be required. Kenny will look at this with you before anything is drawn up. Where an earlier owner fitted plain uPVC that now looks out of place, our timber-look casements and sliding sashes can bring back a more traditional appearance. In Winsley, Holt and Westwood, the newer houses are usually far less complicated.
Double Glazing That Respects Bradford on Avon's Character
Much of the town is a conservation area with a very high number of listed buildings, so the style of window is the first thing to get right. Our flush casement and timber windows suit stone cottages, and our sliding sash windows suit the town’s Georgian houses. Listed buildings need consent from Wiltshire Council, and Kenny will advise and give you the product details you need.
Recent work nearby includes a composite door replacement in Bradford on Avon and cream aluminium flush casement windows in Warminster.

Double Glazing in Bradford on Avon: Your Questions Answered
Which areas around Bradford on Avon do you cover?
All of Bradford on Avon, along with Winsley, Westwood, Holt, Monkton Farleigh, Limpley Stoke and the surrounding villages, as well as Trowbridge.
Can I have double glazing in a listed building?
Sometimes. It depends on the building and what the council will accept, and in some cases only timber windows or secondary glazing will be approved. Kenny will look at the property, tell you honestly what is likely to be allowed and give you the product details to support an application.
Can you match the look of my existing windows?
Usually, yes. We offer a wide choice of colours and woodgrain finishes, along with flush casement, sliding sash and Georgian bar options, so new windows suit the character of the house rather than fight it.
What guarantee do your windows come with?
Frames and sealed glass units are guaranteed for 10 years, hardware for 2 years and our workmanship for 10 years, all backed by an insurance-backed guarantee through HomePro.
How much does double glazing cost?
It depends on the number and size of the windows, the style, the colour and the glass. Every window is made to measure, so the only way to give an accurate price is to survey your home. The survey and quote are free, and we are rarely beaten on price for a genuine like-for-like quotation.
