Double Glazing in Dorchester
Dorchester has Georgian townhouses along High West Street and High East Street, Victorian terraces in Fordington and the traditional-style homes of Poundbury on its western edge. Older homes here can be cold and draughty, and many of the newer ones are ready for their next set of windows. Good double glazing makes a house warmer and quieter, and the right style keeps its character.
Goldhill Glazing is a family-run window and door company based in Shaftesbury. We take on fewer projects than the big names so every installation gets the time it needs. Kenny surveys every home himself, and your windows are fitted by our own team from start to finish.
Dorchester gives us a real mix of work. On High West Street and High East Street, the Georgian buildings call for a sensitive approach, and consent from Dorset Council may be needed, which Kenny will check before any work is planned. The Victorian terraces in Fordington often still have early double glazing with misted panes and worn hinges, and replacing it is one of the simplest ways to make those houses warmer and quieter. At Poundbury the homes are newer, but most were built with a traditional look, so glazing bars and frame styles need matching carefully to keep each street consistent.
Double Glazing for Dorchester's Period Homes
Much of central Dorchester is a conservation area with many listed buildings, so the style of window is the first thing to get right. Our sliding sash windows keep the proportions of Georgian and Victorian originals, our flush casement windows suit cottages, and our timber windows are available where only the real thing will do. If consent is needed from Dorset Council, Kenny will advise and give you the product details you need.
Recent work nearby includes flush casement windows in Wimborne and a box sash replacement in Gillingham.

Double Glazing in Dorchester: Your Questions Answered
Which areas around Dorchester do you cover?
All of Dorchester, including Fordington and Poundbury, along with Charminster, Puddletown, Broadmayne, Martinstown and the surrounding villages.
Can you fit windows in Poundbury?
Yes. Poundbury homes are built in a traditional style and often have design guidelines covering windows, so it is worth checking these before you choose. Our sliding sash and flush casement windows keep the traditional look, and Kenny will help you pick a style and finish that fits.
Can you match the look of my existing windows?
Usually, yes. We offer a wide choice of colours and woodgrain finishes, along with flush casement, sliding sash and Georgian bar options, so new windows suit the character of the house rather than fight it.
What guarantee do your windows come with?
Frames and sealed glass units are guaranteed for 10 years, hardware for 2 years and our workmanship for 10 years, all backed by an insurance-backed guarantee through HomePro.
How much does double glazing cost?
It depends on the number and size of the windows, the style, the colour and the glass. Every window is made to measure, so the only way to give an accurate price is to survey your home. The survey and quote are free, and we are rarely beaten on price for a genuine like-for-like quotation.
