Composite Doors in Dorchester
Dorchester has Georgian townhouses along High West Street and High East Street, Victorian terraces in Fordington and the traditional-style homes of Poundbury. The front door matters on streets like these, and a well-chosen composite door gives you warmth and security with the look of a traditional door.
Goldhill Glazing is a family-run window and door company based in Shaftesbury. We take on fewer projects than the big names so every installation gets the time it needs. Kenny surveys every home himself, and your door is fitted by our own team from start to finish.
Dorchester has three quite different kinds of doorway. On High West and High East Street, Georgian townhouses want a properly proportioned panelled door, and if your home is listed or in a conservation area, Dorset Council may need to approve the change, which Kenny will explain. Victorian terraces in Fordington often suit a four-panel door with a glazed top section in a strong traditional colour. The traditional-style homes at Poundbury follow a careful palette, so we help match colour and style to the street, and for family homes in Charminster or Puddletown a solid back door with a slam lock is often the place to start.
Composite Doors for Dorchester’s Period Homes
Much of central Dorchester is a conservation area with many listed buildings, and Poundbury has its own design guidelines. Panelled doors in heritage colours suit Georgian and Victorian houses, and our timber-look R9 entrance door recreates a 19th-century door. If consent is needed from Dorset Council, Kenny will advise and give you the product details you need.
Recent work nearby includes a composite door in Blandford Forum and an anthracite grey composite door in Fontmell Magna.

Composite Doors in Dorchester: Your Questions Answered
Which areas around Dorchester do you cover?
All of Dorchester, including Fordington and Poundbury, along with Charminster, Puddletown, Broadmayne, Martinstown and the surrounding villages.
Can you fit a door that meets Poundbury’s design guidelines?
In most cases, yes. Poundbury homes often have guidelines on style and colour, so it is worth checking these first. Traditional panelled doors and our R9 door suit the look, and Kenny will help you choose a door that fits.
How secure are your composite doors?
Very. Every door has multi-point locking, and our solid core doors have an AV4 slam lock that locks automatically when the door closes. Glazed panels use toughened safety glass, and the door and frame are fitted by our own team so everything locks down firmly.
What guarantee do your doors come with?
Your door is guaranteed for 10 years, hardware for 2 years and our workmanship for 10 years, all backed by an insurance-backed guarantee through HomePro.
How much does a composite door cost?
It depends on the style, size, colour, glass and hardware you choose. Every door is made to measure, so the only way to give an accurate price is to survey your home. The survey and quote are free, and we are rarely beaten on price for a genuine like-for-like quotation.
